Deniyaya Reforestation & Restoration Project

Our project focuses on restoring ecosystems and enriching biodiversity through the plantation of 20,000 trees across a 50-acre land adjacent to the Sinharaja Rainforest (Deniyaya side). This initiative includes a 5-acre Miyawaki forest, a vibrant butterfly garden, and the planting of over 12,000 fruit, medicinal, forest, and other native species that will contribute to ecological balance and community well-being.

Mangrove Restoration Project

Under the ANRM Project with Bio Diversity Sri Lanka, LOLC Finance has expanded its mangrove restoration efforts by acquiring an additional 3.08 hectares, bringing the total restoration area to 14.29 hectares.

The newly designated Plot 05, previously a degraded shrimp pond, is being prepared for hydrological modifications to enable true mangrove restoration. Through this initiative, LOLC Finance is committed to enhancing coastal biodiversity, restoring vital ecosystems, and strengthening natural resilience against climate change.

At LOLC Finance, we recognize that responsible waste management is a critical part of building a sustainable future. Our operations generate various forms of waste, and we are committed to managing them through a structured 7R approach, while encouraging responsible consumption across all branches and offices.

In line with this commitment, on World Environment Day 2025, LOLC Finance proudly pledged to achieve Zero Waste to Landfill.

By taking these steps, we aim not only to reduce the volume of waste directed to landfills but also to set a benchmark for sustainable business practices in Sri Lanka’s financial sector. Our pledge is a long-term commitment to the planet—and a promise to our communities that LOLC Finance will lead by example in shaping a greener, more resilient future.

Branch Solarization

At LOLC Finance, we are committed to building a greener future by reducing our carbon footprint and integrating renewable energy solutions across our operations. One of our key initiatives in this journey is the branch solarization program, which enables our network to generate clean, renewable energy while reducing dependency on the national grid.

To date, 13+ of our branches have been equipped with rooftop solar power systems, generating a total installed capacity of over 550 kWp. This investment not only helps us cut down on greenhouse gas emissions but also contributes to long-term energy cost savings, ensuring that our operations are both environmentally responsible and economically sustainable.

A beach clean-up was organized by LOLC Finance PLC collaborating with Zero Plastic Movement at the Wadduwa beach on 20th September, 2025 in celebration of the World Cleanup Day. More than 100 volunteers, including LOLC Finance staff of Panadura and Kalutara 1 & 2 branches, and young environmental enthusiasts from the University of Moratuwa, came together to clear 445 kilograms of beach litter.

Coastal Care: Cleaning, Conserving, and Connecting

A beach clean-up was organized by LOLC Finance PLC collaborating with Green Building Council of Sri Lanka and Ladies’ College, Colombo 07 at the Wellawatta beach on 16th August, 2023. A total of 257kg of waste was collected which emphasizes our responsibility towards an eco-friendly beach to preserve our Oceans.

Wings of Wonder: A Bird Watching Adventure

LOLC Finance hosted “Wings of Wonder: A Bird Watching Adventure” at the Beddagana Wetland to mark the International Day of Forests. The event brought together nature enthusiasts and employees for an enriching morning of bird watching from 6.00 AM to 10.00 AM, offering a unique opportunity to experience the biodiversity of this vital wetland habitat.

Participants observed a wide variety of bird species and gained insights into the ecological importance of wetlands and forests in sustaining biodiversity and mitigating climate change. The event not only celebrated the beauty of Sri Lanka’s natural heritage but also reinforced LOLC Finance’s commitment to environmental awareness and conservation.

Training Programme on Fabric Bag Manufacturing to the regional female community Balangoda area

LOLC Finance, Balangoda Branch concluded a Training Programme on Fabric Bag Manufacturing to the regional female community of the area. The training program which was launched in-line with the international women’s day, intended to encourage and to empower the regional women to drive their own businesses in related industries. The overall outcome is expected level up their living standards during the trying times. The program imparted skills to the participants on the entire process of conceptualizing to manufacturing a complete bag. It was conducted by Ms. Renuka Jayathilak and Mrs. Nelka Hewage two of the renowned seniors in the industry.

“Access to Clean Water” for Malarum Arumpukal Pre-School - Sithamparapuram, Vavuniya

LOLC Finance Vavuniya successfully concluded a project under the theme “Access to Clean Water” for Malarum Arumpukal Pre-School - Sithamparapuram, Vavuniya. The pre-school property was partly deteriorated over time. Fixing the concern, LOLC Finance team provided an extensive renovation to the property. During the process a complete water supply facility was installed to the school. Brand-new pipelines were also fixed to draw water from the main supply which was almost 100 M away from the school premises.

In addition to that, the school washroom was renovated and painted and washbasin amenities were also mounted to the required locations with the intention of providing access to clean- speedy water for the students.

Enhancing Access to Clean Drinking Water at Monnekulama School

As part of its community outreach efforts, the Nikaweratiya Branch has provided water filters to Monnekulama School, ensuring access to safe and clean drinking water for its students. This initiative aims to promote the health and well-being of children by improving the quality of water available within the school premises.

Renovation project recently for the Galahitiya Praja Shalawa, Baduraliya

LOLC Finance Baduraliya Branch successfully concluded a renovation project recently for the Galahitiya Praja Shalawa, Baduraliya. Since the initial establishment of the Praja Shalawa, the property was deteriorated over time. LOLC Finance team promptly assisted the requirement through adequate renovations to the property. In addition to the renovation project, Baduraliya Branch staff also donated plastic chairs to be used in the premises. Baduraliya Branch staff, Gramasewa Niladari and Goviniyamaka of the area were also present at the day of the event.
